Kutir Delights in Praise for Its Modern Yet Grounded Indian Cuisine in Chelsea
It always, of course, delights our team here at Kutir to hear praise of our traditionally grounded, yet modern Indian restaurant in Chelsea, whether that praise is anecdotal, comes directly from our diners, or appears in print or on the computer screen.
So, we were pleased to once again recently see positive words extended to us by a well-placed observer – in this case, Country & Town House’s Online Junior Editor Ellie Smith, in an article listing some of the best Indian dining spots in London for Holi.
For readers who may be unaware, Holi is a Hindu festival celebrated every March, effectively marking the end of the winter and the beginning of spring. It is also known as the Festival of Colours, Love and Spring, and is renowned as a time for fun, complete with the best in singing, dancing, and an all-around love of life.
So, the inclusion of Kutir in this rundown of Indian eateries in London represents high praise indeed! What did Ellie have to say about our elegant venue on the capital’s Lincoln Street?
“Simply put, Kutir gets refined Indian food so right”
In her short review of our restaurant, Ellie did find the meaning behind the word Kutir – “a small cottage in the middle of nowhere” – slightly contradicted by our townhouse location being “smack
bang in Sloane Square, set just off the King’s Road”. However, she added that the setting we provided for dining was “magically quiet and feels worlds away from the bustle of its neighbours – needless to say, it’s well positioned for a hearty meal after a day of shopping.”
She went on to note the splendidness of our eatery’s décor – describing it as “a vision rendered in soothing tones of mint green, florals, and ambient lighting – all of which make the perfect backdrop for the refined but fiery meal ahead.”
And what about that meal? Well, Ellie recommended to readers that they select one of our “delectable” Expedition tasting menus that change on a seasonal basis, and drew attention to our Signature Menu, with its presentation of timeless dishes – such as chicken tikka and lamb tandoori – that are “given a modern update”.
Hailing our gastronomic creations as “impeccably plated” and “full of flavours both traditional and innovative”, the writer declared: “Simply put, Kutir gets refined Indian food so right.”
And her hugely complimentary words hardly stopped there, as she also made flattering reference to our desserts, including the mango cassata flecked with cranberry, kulfi and pistachio.
“Given the quality of food, service and ambience,” Ms Smith concluded, “Kutir is also shockingly well-priced.”
That’s certainly a verdict we’ll happily take! You can read the junior editor’s words directly for yourself on the Country & Town House website.
